YKRB Foundation for Heritage, Culture and Development held an event on a day of Yemeni heritage at Al-Bustan Hotel, under the patronage of His Excellency the Minister of Culture, Mr. Abdullah Al-Kabsi , and with the support of the Yemen Mobile Company, Yemen and Kuwait Bank, and Ammran Cement Factory, and with the participation of many institutions interested in Yemeni heritage, and in the presence of many prominent figures in Society and interested people.
Many local channels, radio and newspapers had documented the Yemeni Heritage Day.
The aim of the event is to revive the Yemeni heritage in its various components. And to be an annual day to celebrate the ancient Yemeni heritage.
The activities included an exhibition of handicrafts and traditional products, and a gallery of Draws art and manuscripts.
The activities also included the presentation of a documentary film entitled “Our Heritage is Our Identity, found to Be Protected Not to be indelible “, as well as chant segments, Sana’ani Hadrami and Tuhami Chanting Art, and amazing songs from Yemeni heritage.

 


Yemeni Heritage Pioneers Project (Involving youth in preserving the old city of Sana’a)
September 5, 2020 – September 30, 2020

Aim of the project is to contribute to the preservation of the old city of Sana’a by qualifying young people in the field of heritage preservation and involving them in educating the local community and the city’s residents, and to introduce them to the importance of their historic city.
Project interim objectives:
1. Providing community work with 10 young men and women trained and qualified in community awareness skills for residents of historic cities.
2. Community awareness of the importance of preserving the historic old city of Sana’a, by targeting 300 residents of the old city of Sana’a, 40% of whom are women.
3. Spreading the concepts of preserving the old city of Sana’a through media campaigns on social media.

Project Activities
Activity 1: Organizing training programs for 10 young men and women and rehabilitating them in the training axes:
• Introducing the world heritage and the importance of Yemeni heritage.
• Introducing the historical importance of the old city of Sana’a.
• Risks to heritage. Methods of protection and maintenance of historic cities.
• The wrong practices of the inhabitants of historical cities and ways to reduce them.
• Field survey procedures, monitoring, documentation, data collection, and personal interviews.
Activity 2: The 10 male and female trainees educated 300 residents of historic cities, with 40% women. During the project period, after the completion of their training, through meetings and the distribution of brochures and questionnaires.
Activity 3: Creating a Documentary Film that will be published through a campaign on social media: to encourage the community to highlight the beauty of the monuments in Old Sana’a.
